Silence is peace.

There’s an idea circulating right now that is denigrating one of our basic rights as Americans. Freedom of speech, since silence is apparently a statement in itself. There is a great quote “better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt”, ironically enough these words came from Abraham Lincoln. I wonder if he would’ve been virtue signaled for not participating in “#blackouttuesday” this week. Phil Jackson in his book Eleven Rings 10 rules, one of which is “When in doubt, do nothing”. He states that basketball is an action sport with high-energy players who love to do something- anything- to solve problems. However, there are occasions when the best solution is to do absolutely nothing; this is especially true when the media is involved he also says. I couldn’t agree more. Especially when you don’t have all the facts, you should be permitted to wait and form your opinion. Even then, choosing to remain silent or have a different view shouldn’t label you as a racist.
